Thaumatophyllum xanadu
This plant has luscious, unique green leaves making it a fun and full tropical plant
Growth: The Xanadu is a free standing plant and will continue to grow wide and full with gorgeous lobed leaves.
Lighting: This variety prefers more sunlight than its relatives and is happiest in bright indirect light and does like direct morning sun to absorb a sun-soaked glow, but should avoid direct afternoon sun that could cause burn damage.
Did You Know...
This plant belongs to the Araceae family and is commonly known to be apart of the oh so very LARGE family of Philodendron, but has been reclassified under the Thaumatophyllum genus in more recent years.
Many known Philodendrons are often "tree-loving" - hence the name that was translated from Greek. Those that are "tree-loving" typically love vining along, unlike this unique variety.
While this plant is no longer considered a Philodendron, it does have special characteristics similar to other plants in that Genus, such as the Pinnatifidum or the Maximum.
This plant is also known by the common name of Winterbourne and it's not only because it's a perennial.. the patent was named after a Mr. & Mrs. Winterbourne and later changed to the name Xanadu
It is native to Brazil and is often used in landscaping in that area because of its dense and full growth as it matures.
